I’ve been creating my online information empire by connecting up by Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, Blog and website. And in doing so I’ve come across a million (or thereabouts) “add ons” and “widgets” that you can utilise to make your life easier. The trouble is, how do you know which widget to go with? Will they really save me time? And how do I find out if they’re any good without having to try them all out myself?
I decided I needed to find out more. I felt an “expodition” was in order (in the style of Winnie the Pooh) and that I needed to ‘get out there’ and investigate. What I want to discover is:
- Where do you go to get reliable information on such things?
- Which of the widgets really do make your life easier?
For the purposes of this investigation, I’ve been looking at the widgets aimed at the Twitter / Facebook / Blogging community – i.e. those who share their thoughts and ideas online. There will be some cross over with emails and email marketing in here as well, I’m sure. I may also stumble across some other not-so-related geek-tools during my travels, and if so I will unashamedly share them with you here on my blog.
Bearing in mind I have no map, and little experience, this trek could be dangerous! So, if any of you have any information to share that would help me, please post it here. Perhaps you have already located the Shangri-la of widget know-how. Maybe you know that your life has ‘never been better’ since you loaded ‘plug in b’ into your browser. If this is you, share your findings here and help the rest of us attain such zen-like states!
Or, if you want me to do the hard work for you, simply watch the story unfold here!
So, on with the hiking gear, backpack strapped down, toothbrush remembered, and off I go…
